1031 Exchanges

Defer your capital gains tax

A 1031 exchange, named after Section 1031 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, is a strategy used by real estate investors to defer paying capital gains taxes on the sale of a property. This is achieved by using the proceeds from the sale to purchase another, similar property. Essentially, instead of selling a property and incurring taxes on the gains, an investor "exchanges" it for another property, allowing the tax on the gain to be deferred until a later date.
